A look inside the home of Dorothea Wierer
In an exclusive interview, she talks about her experiences renovating her home and gives personal tips for creating a cosy ambience. Find out more about the combination of nature, sustainability and modern design that makes her home an inviting retreat.
Beaming with joy, she opens the door for us and leads us straight into the heart of the house: the open-plan living room, where Doro loves to relax in a cosy armchair. The colour palette of the interior is deliberately kept neutral to create a calming atmosphere. "You'll quickly become oversaturated with bright colours," she advises her fans and recommends using natural elements such as wood and subtle colours instead.
Cosiness
The JOKA parquet flooring forms a flowing transition between the entrance area, living and dining room and the open-plan kitchen. On the recommendation of an interior designer, Doro and her husband also opted for parquet accents on the walls and ceiling, which give the room a very cosy atmosphere.
The cosy theme is also reflected in the bedroom. Here, a super-soft carpet adorns the room and gently kisses your feet awake in the morning. It is also ideal for making yourself really comfortable on the floor and finding further inspiration.
However, the renovation was not without its challenges, especially during the Covid period. "It was so difficult to get all the materials here," Doro remembers. "And when you're renovating, you don't know what the house is really like when you take it apart." But thanks to patience, trust in skilled craftsmen and committed partners, the house ultimately became a place of well-being that she would not want to be without.
Nature and sustainability
Nature plays an important role in Dorothea Wierer's life. As a keen sportswoman, she enjoys spending time outdoors when training and also seeks peace and relaxation in her own garden.
Nature and sustainability were important elements for Doro when choosing her products. She is particularly close to nature in the large bathroom. Wallpaper with a Black Forest motif, parquet flooring with wood from sustainable forestry and natural design wallpaper with a concrete look complete the picture. The Variano Neo natural design wallpaper appears again and again in the house as a unifying element: for example, in the long hallway and also in the sauna/fitness room, where it has found a perfect place on the wall.
Cosiness in the guest area
There is also an area for guests, which is furnished with natural design flooring in an oak look. Characteristics such as durability, water resistance and healthy living convinced Doro when making her choice and allow her guests to spend the night with a good feeling.
A perfect day with biathlete Dorothea Wierer
Her perfect day consists of sleeping in, a hearty breakfast, spending time with her husband or the rest of the family and enjoying life far away from stress. "We're always in the fast lane," she says with a smile. "Meeting up with friends. Talking about something different. And eating well," is something Doro really enjoys.
Attention to detail
Doro paid particular attention to the sustainable design of her home. Natural fabrics, wood and iron characterise the ambience, while art provides a cosy feel. The material wood has a deeper meaning for her - having grown up in the mountains, she sees wood as her identity: "Wood is like me. With little quirks and natural," she laughs sympathetically.
With a smile, she reveals that she is now perfectly happy, as her vision of the perfect home has been successfully realised. The attention to detail and the connection to nature make her house an inviting and harmonious retreat.
The project was realised in cooperation with our subsidiary in Italy, BRITEX Jordan Srl/GmbH. Thanks to the expertise of Eurodecor 2000 OHG (www.eurodecor.it), the JOKA products were professionally installed.
