What are fire protection classes?

Fire protection classes indicate how a material reacts in the event of a fire. They are particularly important to ensure safety in your home. Classification is based on the European standard DIN EN 13501-1 and the German standard DIN 4102. Both standards differ in their test criteria, but the aim is the same: to increase safety.

Our JOKA products have different fire protection classes and therefore offer reliable protection in areas such as living rooms, corridors, stairwells and technical rooms.

The fire protection classes at a glance

Non-combustible materials (A1fl, A2fl)

Why are fire protection classes important?

Choosing the right fire protection class can save lives in an emergency. A floor covering that is flame-retardant can slow down the spread of fire and reduce smoke development, making evacuation easier and minimising the risk of smoke poisoning.

Our JOKA consultants will be happy to recommend the right JOKA products for your room and select them for you according to the fire protection class.
