What are fire protection classes?
Our JOKA products have different fire protection classes and therefore offer reliable protection in areas such as living rooms, corridors, stairwells and technical rooms.
The fire protection classes at a glance
Non-combustible materials (A1fl, A2fl)
A1fl: These materials are completely non-combustible
A2fl: These materials are also non-combustible, but may contain minor combustible components

Flame-retardant materials (Bfl-s1, Cfl-s1)
Bfl-s1: These floor coverings are flame-retardant and produce very little smoke
Cfl-s1: Also flame-retardant, but with slightly higher smoke development

Normally flammable materials (Dfl-s1, Dfl-s2)
Dfl-s1: These materials are normally flammable and produce little smoke
Dfl-s2: Normally flammable with higher smoke development

Highly flammable materials (Efl, Ffl)
Efl: Easily flammable
Ffl: Very highly flammable and therefore less suitable for use in living spaces

Why are fire protection classes important?
Choosing the right fire protection class can save lives in an emergency. A floor covering that is flame-retardant can slow down the spread of fire and reduce smoke development, making evacuation easier and minimising the risk of smoke poisoning.
Our JOKA consultants will be happy to recommend the right JOKA products for your room and select them for you according to the fire protection class.
