At the 2019 World Championships, Dorothea Wierer became the first Italian woman to win a biathlon world title.
Dorothea Wierer competes for the Italian Winter Sports Federation FISI and won a bronze medal in the mixed relay at both the Winter Olympics in Sochi and Pyeongchang. At the 2019 World Championships, she was the first Italian woman to become world champion in the biathlon. She also won the overall World Cup in 2018/19 and defended this title in the 2019/20 World Cup. Away from winter sports, Dorothea works for the financial watchdog. In her private life, Dorothea Wierer also values an environment in which she feels comfortable.
